How To Elope in Hawaii Oahu, Hawaii
Aloha, I'm Dallas and I am your Megan Johnson Photography Elopement Officiant! Today I'm here to tell you a little bit about the process of eloping in Hawaii. Getting married in Hawaii may seem like a big undertaking, and while there are some important things you need to do, Megan & I are here to help you all along the way! So let's start with the technical stuff…
The process can be broken up into a couple steps. First and foremost, you and your partner need to be at least 18 years of age. After that, you will need to submit an application through the Hawaii department of health (https://emrs.ehawaii.gov/emrs/public/home.html). The application fee is $60 with a $5 administrative fee ($65 total). Once approved, both of you will need to meet face to face with a Hawaii Marriage Agent to pick up your license. This meeting needs to be within 30 days of your ceremony and you will also need to bring a minimum of 1 form of identification but I always recommend bringing two. The surefire two I always recommend are drivers license/state ID & passport. There are tons of agents and we can help you get set up with an appointment if needed. Now is the fun part!
After this, all you need to do is have your ceremony and make your day whatever you want it to be! Whether you're having a small intimate ceremony on the beach or a large ceremony at one of Hawaii's amazing private locations, the process is fairly similar. We will help you find the perfect location and assist with any permitting or even day of planning to make this as easy as possible for you! When the day comes, I will officiate your ceremony and Megan will take photos of all of your memories. After the ceremony, I, as a state licensed officiant and will confirm the ceremony through the department of health E-Filing same day. Then congratulations, you did it!! We truly strive to make this process as smooth and easy as possible for you!
Now what can you expect from me as your officiant? First and foremost, I am licensed by the state of Hawaii to perform wedding and elopement ceremonies (great start, right!?). While I’m pretty flexible, I focus mainly on non denominational Christian and non religious ceremonies. I am not in any way ordained or licensed by any specific church or religious organization. I can promise you that no religious or political views will be pushed on you during any of the process or in your ceremony. I may give you some really good recommendations of what to do or eat around Oahu though! :)
Okay so this was a lot of information… We totally get it. Remember that we are here to help you all along the way. From planning your day beforehand to filing all the online paperwork in the background while you're celebrating, we got you! We also have amazing vendor recommendations from hair, makeup, picnic, flower preservation, or even horses on your special day! We do all of this to make your union easy so you can focus on the important things, each other.
If you're ready to make your Hawaiian elopement dream a reality, let's make it happen!
